Worldwide Animal Rescue Fund
Helping to rescue kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, horses and other animals
in the UK and around the World.
My name is Mike Lawson and I’d like to personally thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
I know everyone’s time is precious so I’ll make this brief and to the point.
All my life I’ve been involved with caring for animals in some way, but in recent years I’ve been trying to find ways to help more than just my own animals live happy lives.
My wife and I volunteered at a local horse sanctuary which rescued and looked after horses and have fostered kittens from a local dog and cat rescue charity (as you can see below....) which would have been drowned in a bucket of water if they hadn’t been rescued.............and there are lots more stories to tell.........
Like the donkey in Greece that escaped from where it had been tethered, and wandered into someone's garden where they were growing fruit and vegetables. Naturally it ate some of them and as punishment its owner tied its legs up with barbed wire and left it like that. It took months and lots of vet bills to get it healed and healthy after it was rescued. The lady running that centre gave up her job in the UK to help animals over there and is struggling along with little help. We want to change that.
We have also helped our friends at the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary in Spain who do brilliant work rescuing donkeys and horses that have been neglected or abused. This was one of their rescue horses, Silver:
as you can see from the photo, Silver's back had been badly damaged by being ridden and over loaded when he was too young to bear any weight. He was such a lovely natured horse too; it is really heartbreaking to see these wonderful, intelligent & gentle animals in this condition. Sadly in July 2011 Silver had to finally be put to sleep due to illness, but at least by being rescued by the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary his life was improved immeasurably while he was alive.
Here is another of the horses we have helped when volunteering: L'Amour was a beautiful strawberry roan Welsh Section A at the local horse Sanctuary where we volunteered:
Due to a traumatic birth causing her retinas to detatch she was blind in both eyes. L'Amour was a permanent resident at the horse sanctuary where we volunteered, helping with grooming, feeding, fixing fences, building shelters etc..
From our charity work and talking to some of the amazing people that dedicate their lives to helping animals it always seems to come down to the same problem – more money needed – to create places for them to be kept until they can be re-homed, for vet bills , for food bills, advertising, transport costs etc…….
So, WE HAVE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
We have set up the Worldwide Animal Rescue Fund to provide funding to these animal charities, focusing on the smaller, less well known ones who don’t have big fundraising departments to raise the cash they need.
We see the same situation time and time again; thousands more animals could be saved from a life of pain and suffering if only the charities had more money.
Now this isn't the usual charity plea we are making here.
There are 2 very important differences.
Firstly, we are not going to ask you to contribute any more than just £10 ($16 at the time of writing) per month to help our cause. That is just 32p (54 cents) per day!
Just set it up once and thats it. Its not about us finding a handful of people and repeatedly mailing them to ask for more and more money. We get fed up of that type of approach as much as you do. We WILL NEVER sell your email details on to other charities or third parties.
Secondly, the most important thing you can do to help us is by distributing our plea to as many people as possible through email.
Even if, for the moment your financial circumstances are such that you can't afford to give any contribution, you can still be a massive help to us if you just distribute our plea to those people on your email list. Whether you are able to donate or not, this is crucial to help us achieve what we want to do.
All you need to do is to forward this web page to let them see the video and read about our charity.
"I completely support and endorse Michael's efforts to raise funds for animal rescue centres. Animal welfare is something close to my heart and I think this is a wonderful project”.
